I got to hear Alan McDonald a few years ago in Cushendall. Wonderful! Wish I could be there for it, but alas, maybe next time.

Tony on Accordion played some lovely steady music, with some lovely light & shade to his playing, including a masterful display of Slow Air playing.
Angelina on Tenor Banjo also brought along a wonderful little Tenor Guitar, which sounded fantastic especially when she was dueting with the Piper.
However, for me, Allan McDonald stole the show.
At the concert, Allan played a number of sets of tunes which included the Scottish version & the Irish version. Of course he didn't suggest that either came first because in most cases nobody knows.
One of Allan's specialities is to sing in his native Gaelic language while playing the Scottish Smallpipes.
He had his Smallpipes in C, plus two sets of Border Pipes, in different Keys & of course the Great Highland Pipes.
Anyone interested in Traditional Music & Piping will I'm sure be kicking themselves, if they missed this wonderful concert!
However, below is a link to a video of an informal concert featuring Allan, plus Donegal Fiddlers Vincent, Jimmy and Peter Campbell, recorded back in 2006.
I think you might enjoy this DulciMike. ![]()
The Donegal style of Fiddling & its music has of course been heavily influenced by Scottish Fiddle playing, down through the years.

Ah, yes. I was at that workshop in 2006 with the Campbells and Alan McDonald. Hearing the Campbells was good, but hearing alan McDonald on the Scottish Smallpipes that day was wonderful. I actually was set up with my video camera right next to the fellow whose video you've linked to here, and got the same thing but from a slightly different angle. I think he may have been videoing for Comhaltas, but I'm not sure. I really enjoyed hearing Alan. I would go hear him anytime, if at all possible. And I enjoyed seeing and hearing this video, Ptarm. Thanks for posting it.
