Home Again.

Just found this site, - I am here on holiday from New Zealand where I have lived for the last 43 years, - I grew up near Coleraine / Bushmills and spent the first 22 years of my life here, so I believe I qualify as an Ulster Scot! - especially as I haven't lost the brogue!

This looks like a good site, but I haven't as yet gone through it all, so I look forward to many good discussions in the future.
I don't believe this unique culture and language we have should be lost ( just as the republicans shouldn't lose their's either).

I hope I can contribute something in the future when I return to NZ. -  I do realise that interest in this subject is often confined to older and ex patriot Ulster people seeking to discover their roots. - unfortunately!

Re: Home Again.

Good of you to join us Wullie ,,, jings, crivens & help ma Bob! big_smile

As for discussions here, unfortunately they are few & far between, as you will quickly realise, when you get time to explore this site.

You said:

Quite right, but I'm just not sure how we can do more, to try & encourage folks here to actually use their "brogue"! sad

The bottom line of course is .. if you don't use it ... you lose it!

Perhaps you can stimulate a few discussion here, Wullie .... GOOD LUCK.

Anyway, I hope you have a braw time while you are over here.

Safe Home & ... keep in touch! wink

Cheers
